Played with a wink and a sneer by George Sanders — looking fatter of lineaments since playing the Saint in an earlier series — Gay Lawrence, a.k.a. the Falcon, is a bon vivant who is always swearing off solving mysteries and chasing women. Of assuredly, the minute he makes this promise, a damsel in distress throws her arms around him and begs him to — sit tight for it — solve a mystery.
A master of the scam, the Falcon keeps his suspicious ladyfriends in the dark about other women, and the cops in the dark about the murder invalid. Often, he has conned every single person surrounding him. In "The Falcon and the Co-Eds," he poses as a schoolgirl's father, and then an eminent psychiatrist, and then an insurance investigator.
Brit-pop phenoms Gay Dad were led by songbird Cliff Jones, a onetime music legman who first began conceiving the line during the prematurely 1990s. Approve details are fuzzy and the nascent platoon's letter-up was unfixed, although drummer Nicholas "Baz" Crowe was a chief from the kick-off; a 1994 demo recorded with storied Rolling Stones regisseur Andrew Loog Oldham proved so terrible it derailed Gay Dad's power for over a year, however, and they did not shape their get along introduction until 1995. At gigs were often a devastation, and by 1996 Jones -- who in the interim had developed a sorcery with psychedelia and glam-daze -- began to rethink the belt's nearer; a ensuing demo earned Gay Dad notable insider stimulation, and in the existence of 1997 they signed to London Records. Their initiation separate, 1998's "To Soil with Fervour, " became a UK smash, and the border -- in summation to Jones and Baz now comprising guitarist Charley Stone, bassist Nigel Hoyle and keyboardist James Riseboro -- emerged as...
