ALBANY — It was billed as an time to meet Gov. Andrew Cuomo at the Executive Mansion on New Year's Day.
B ut it was his longtime sidekick, Sandra Lee , with upswept glossy blond hair and a dazzling knee-interminably white holiday dress with a beaded neckline, who shined the brightest.
"This is Sandy," Cuomo said to visitors.
The Eats Network TV star needed no introduction.
"I loved meeting Sandra. I came for her," said Darlene Sontheimer , of Troy, a shape Department of Labor employee. She spoke in the mansion's driveway after the be introduced to and greet, lingering in Sunday's unseasonably warm sunshine.
"She's colourful, vivacious, warm and friendly. I told her I loved her Christmas trees, although she only decorated five this year in place of of seven," Sontheimer said.
"I came for Sandra. She's stunning," said Rebecca McManus , who drove for more than two hours with her calm and two children from Endicott in the Southern Tier.
"I love Sandra's backstory and how she came from a bloody-minded childhood and made something great of herself," said McManus, a photographer. "She's a very strong, affluent woman, and I wanted my daughter to see that.
